Case Overview

THE DOSSIER.

FASRings discovered a leather workshop in Florence and designed how the maker's discipline itself should arrive in Japan. This was never about importing a product. It was about translating the tension, restraint, and emotional lift you feel the moment you touch it.

DISCOVERY

We looked at the pressure in the maker's hands, not the speed of output.

We did not decide from crowdfunding metrics alone. We entered the workshop, watched the cutting habits, the pull of the thread, and the stillness of the finishing process, then decided it had long-term value.

LOCALIZATION

We translated the product into the user's emotional context, not just leather specifications.

For Japan, we did more than add technical material notes. We reframed the product around ritual, posture, and the pleasure of aging. Sizing, care copy, and image tone were all rebuilt together.

DISTRIBUTION

We designed for repeat demand, not just launch momentum.

After using Kickstarter to expose initial demand, we connected the product quietly into our own store. Review flows and care guidance were refined to create steady reorders rather than a one-off spike.

Closing Note

What we moved was not leather. It was the atmosphere of the workshop itself.
